Abbotsford Public Library Summer Reading Program
Unearth a Story at the Abbotsford Public Library this summer! The library’s Summer Reading Program will run throughout June and July and will focus on paleontology, geology, archaeology, and fun. Registration begins Thursday, June 4, 2026, and is open to patrons of all ages.
WEEKLY READING GOALS
Children 12 and under will need to complete 1 hour of reading; Adults and teens will need to complete 2 hours of reading to receive a small reward. Reading goals must be completed for a chance to win larger prizes.
RECURRING PROGRAMS
Join the library for weekly recurring programs during June and July:
· Perler Beads — Mondays from 3:30–4:30 PM
· Read to Rover — Tuesdays from 3:00–4:00 PM
A special reading event, Read to a Tortoise, will take place on Tuesday, June 16, from 2:00–4:00 PM.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special events will be held at the library on Thursday evenings at 6PM. Come have fun, learn new things, and earn bonus entries for larger prizes.
· June 4 – Movie Night Registration begins, and families can enjoy a dinosaur-themed movie.
· June 11 – Summer Reading Kickoff Event Enjoy bouncy houses, face painting, sidewalk chalk, giant bubbles, and a dinosaur reading corner.
· June 18 – Mammoth Hunter Sean Sullivan of Wausau will present his mobile Ice Age Museum.
· June 25 – Prehistoric Pets J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue will bring live prehistoric pets.
· July 9 – Amazing Creatures of the Past Retired wildlife technician and educator Chris Cold will share live animals and teach about wild creatures from the past.
· July 16 – Wisconsin Moonstone with Roger Wilder Learn about Wisconsin moonstone and the first pay-to-dig site in Wisconsin.
· July 23 – Summer Reading Finale Celebrate with farm animals and a foam party!
